Little fella's keepin' me busy!

It has been a very "long day" today...not that it was a bad one, but I am exhausted tonight. It started out great, with breakfast and schoolwork for Bradyn. He loved his reading and math, and Hunty helped out by holding the number cards. I was impressed by how easily Bradyn can learn. A child's mind is just so uncluttered and open to any possibility that anything I tell him seems to make perfect sense. No "how can that be" but simply "oh, ok!". He is a little stubborn about how he wants to write his letters, but that's pretty minor. The struggle started about the time we had to go shopping. Ahhh, did I say SHOPPING to a 4 year old and a 2 year old?? They try sooo hard to be good, but there is a limit to how long a toddler and a preschooler can behave! So, we ended up with dancing in the aisle while I looked at their winter sweaters, and Bradyn actually ended up in a heap on the floor because he got a little tooooo into his moves! Of course, I had to laugh with him, and then laugh at Hunter putting pantyhose (you know the little foot sock for trying on shoes?) on his head. Then they thought of drawing on the mirror with SPIT(which I put an abrupt end to)...and I thought I could probably hide underneath the clothes rack. Anyways, I am sure that everyone thought I was the WORST mother in the store, but they made it out in one piece, and happy. Add to that making applesauce and running errands, laundry, etc. and I am sooo ready for bed. Every day, no matter how normal, is an adventure and an exercise in patience!! The moment I get a little discouraged though, I look at my babies little heads as they say their precious little prayers, and at their chubby hands when they reach for me to tuck them in....and I thank the Lord that I have been so richly blessed. And I pray myself....that I can be a mother fit to care for the precious souls he has entrusted to my care.

Pumkinfest 2007

We went to the Pumkinfest at a little country market last Saturday. The kids had a blast! There were animals to pet, pedal tractors and tricycles, a "cornbox" (like a sandbox, but filled with shelled corn), and pumpkins to choose and decorate. Pumpkin decorating translates into oodles of Elmer's glue dripping down the sides with yarn and corn kernels stuck randomly in place. Add some corn cobs and marker, and voila! I think our kids had almost as much glue and marker on themselves as on their pumpkins, but they had fun anyways! Then the hayride, which was a great opportunity for little hands to throw handfuls of hay into the wind as we enjoyed our ride. Then came the corn maze...something Bradyn had been waiting for ALL week. He was soooo excited that he could hardly sleep the night before...tho I think some(ok, most) of that was because he wanted to spend time with McKenna B. The kids led us on our merry way through the corn stalks, while Ken played farmer and checked out the quality of the ears. After only a few circles, we found the way out easily...or wait, did we?? So, we took a bit of a shortcut, but made it out in plenty of time to enjoy some delicious apple cider and cinnamon donuts. It was a beautiful autumn day, and great family time as well.

Motherhood

Biggest on-the-job" training program that exists today"

...and that is what I am...first and foremost a mother, a wife, and maybe, sometimes, just me. So, this is me, on my journey through life and the lessons that I am learning each and every day. You can follow along if you like as I walk through what I am convinced are the best days of my life.
